OnlineBound Podcast #69
Maurice Jeths on what he gained by moving into voice-chat based teaching
November 23, 2024
In this episode, Maurice shares the transformation he’s made from teaching 36 hours a week to just 24 with an asynchronous program. He’s also got more energy and better hours.
Before, he was stuck where many teachers are, selling his time and taking on as many students as he could manage. Now he can be more selective about who he works with.
He’s also been able to increase his income even though he’s working fewer hours. And his students are more engaged and getting better results with his new approach to teaching.

About Maurice Jeths
Maurice Jeths is one of the members inside the Smart Teacher’s Library. He focuses on building confidence and fluency for students, particularly those navigating critical academic phases like the Swiss Gymnasium probation period.
Maurice is also helping busy adults improve their confidence in English by offering them asynchronous programs that allow more flexibility.
In this episode we talk about his transition from an overworked teacher who mainly did 1:1 classes to a business owner who was able to scale his business, increase his pay and shift to teaching hybrid and fully asynchronous programs.
Recent milestone : successfully shifted my 1:1 language teaching towards asynchronous teaching programs. (This is still work in progress). Last month I reached my goal to have a 5k+ sustainable income.
10 years of experience in teaching; in the beginning in-person at language schools in Brazil and on location, later online exclusively.
I specialize in feedback-based language learning, focusing on building confidence and fluency for students, particularly those navigating critical academic phases like the Swiss Gymnasium probation period.
This method emphasizes constant feedback and practical language use, allowing students to improve quickly through tailored learning programs.
My teaching combines 1:1 power sessions with ongoing, task-based activities that foster a continuous learning environment. By working closely with both parents and students, I provide the structure, support, and motivation needed to overcome learning challenges.
I’m passionate about helping teenagers overcome their apprehension towards language learning, especially when they face high academic expectations and mental health challenges.
Through my program, students show measurable improvement in their grades, confidence, and language skills, while parents benefit from transparent progress tracking and reduced pressure to manage their child’s learning journey.
My personalized approach ensures that each student receives guidance that aligns with their individual needs, building the foundation for long-term academic success.
I currently offer my programs in Dutch, French and English.
